Part 1: My Makeup Palette Collection 2016!

Holaaaaaa
I realised I never ever say hello in my blog posts, how rude of me, I apologise. Anyway, I digress.

I'm a makeup addict. There, I said it.

I buy makeup all the time and what is the point when I only have one face? But that's not the point of this post. This post is about my palettes. Quick note, I'm half way through this and I feel like I'm going to have to make another post because I have that many palettes. Great!
I'm going to do a separate post on my custom made palettes, but these are my actual set shade palettes. Let's start with my favourite.

Urban Decay Naked
This is the original one, and my favourite one. It comes with twelve shades, ten shimmers and two mattes and they're all warm toned. I think this is a perfect all rounder eyeshadow palette as it was my first palette!

Urban Decay Naked 2
I do love this one, I did originally buy it for my sister for Christmas but I heard her say she wouldn't wear them so I kept it for myself. It's more of a cool toned palette compared to the original, but I love this one for nights out.

Urban Decay Naked Smoky
I'm annoyed at myself that I don't get enough wear out of this, but I think with Christmas season soon approaching (YAS) that I will be reaching for this. A perfect mix of eight shimmers and four mattes. If you're extravagant go for this!

Urban Decay Naked On The Run
If you've never tried Urban Decay, get this. It comes with the Perversion mascara, the 24/7 glide on eye pencil in Smokeout, the ultra nourishing lipgloss in Sesso, five eyeshadows, a bronzer and blusher. Gloriously worth it!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics
I like this palette, I don't love it. It's six matte shades and they're alright you know. I'm tempted to get rid of it but I feel like I'd miss it as soon as I'd get rid of it!

Urban Decay Naked Flushed in "Native"
Love the highlight, not so keen on the blush, quite like the bronzer. Not gonna lie, I kept it for the highlight. Highlight life.

I apologise if I sound a bit "weeeee" in this post. I'm really tired, goodnight! :)

Learning to Drive: My Tips

If you have been a reader of my blog before, I have mentioned about my experience with driving. It took me three times to pass my driving practical test and I did it first time for my theory. If you're like I was, and didn't really want to learn to drive and was scared as hell. Then I hope these helpful tips can encourage you to get behind the wheel.

1. Do it in Your Own Time
Please don't compare yourself to your friends, if you don't want to learn to drive as soon as you turn 17. Don't. If it takes your friend five months to learn and it takes you longer, don't worry. Every person passes at a different time and it takes different people different ways to get it right. It took me 15 months, it took a boy in my year, three months!

2. Concentrate
This is a given but seriously, if your instructor is explaining how to do something, put all your focus into that. Driving is expensive so make sure to put all your effort into it!

3. Practice makes Perfect
Don't get annoyed if you don't get something first time, just pick yourself back up and just do it again. Put all your attention into it and you'll nail that maneuver!

4. Don't get Disheartened
If you fail first time, second time, however many times, please don't get disheartened. I failed my first test in September and didn't rebook my test or contact my instructor until January. But then when I failed my second test, that night I rebooked. Just stop sulking and do it, you can't change it so just sort it!

5. Think of the End Result
This applies to so many things and not just driving. But just think, once all your lessons are over, you can drive forever. Unless you're a naughty driver and you get your license taken off you, I suggest you don't do that.

I hope these little tips helped you think you can tackle the world of driving. I just want to add that I have only down one maneuver since passing my test, the turn in the road. You learn the majority of the rules of driving, once you're alone on the roads! Good luck kids!

Proud of Myself and Ready for a New Chapter

As I've mentioned before about this blog, I like to consider it like a diary. A place where I sometimes just write about what's currently happening in my life, with the odd "I love this lipstick post."

This is a life post.

In two and a half weeks, I will be starting a new chapter of my life. I will be starting University, studying in a brand new city. It's not far from my house, in fact I'll be half commuting. I said half, sometimes I'll be staying at my friend's house to save some money and time and living the freshers life. I'm a major home bird and living somewhere else completely is just not for me right now. I'm going to be studying a course that I've aspired to do for over five years now, and I can't waaaaait!

So that's Uni.

I recently have been getting out of my comfort zone and just finding new things to do. I've been going out and walking places, playing Krazy Golf and even day drinking. Who'd have thought it? I'm a very mixed person. Sometimes I love adventure, sometimes I love comfort. And I'm definitely in the adventure stage now!

At the start of this year, I told myself to get out of my rut. I was doing the same thing I'd be doing since 2011, and I was bored, but unmotivated and scared to change. I didn't think I'd get to the point I am now, about to start university, been away from home for a week and after losing my grandad, I didn't think I'd get to that point ever.

I'm not quite sure what the intentions of this post was, I guess it was to prove that I can do this!!

How to Get Through A Long Shift

I guarantee some people will have read the title wrong, haha!
I work in a leisure centre, I work as a lifeguard/swimming teacher. That means I have to be on a hot poolside, sat by myself for a while watching people. I obviously don't just chill out but you get me. I also have to work in the bar sometimes when it can be extremely busy. I have to clean the changing rooms, fill the vending machines, clean up, set up parties, set up sporting activities. ETC.

Drink Water
The temptation to drink fizzy drinks or coffee is real. I feel you. I worked a night shift, 10pm-6am and I had four cups of tea within like an hour, and I had a massive caffeine rush at 3am and had the shakes and I felt AWFUL. So just keep drinking that water, it'll keep you hydrated in a nice way.

Get a Good Night Sleep
Everyone laughs at me when I say I need a long night sleep, they think I'm like a puppy or baby or something. But if I have to get up at 5:30, I go to sleep at like half past 9/10. That gives me 8ish hours and I can focus a little more in the day. Believe me, there's nothing worse and getting in at like 12ish and being tipsy when you have to be in work at 6:15am... Trust.

Make a Good Lunch
There is nothing better than thinking "Yes, lunch break is in half an hour and I have the best food EVER." and then everyone else has food envy over your food. There is also nothing worse than thinking "Hm I mean it's alright.. oh my god your food looks incredible" and then watching someone devour their food in front of you. Honestly, sounds like a stupid idea but it works!!!

Have Something to Look Forward to
I always think it's something nice when you're sat in work bored to think "Aw well, i've got this later!" Even if it's just having a bath and some chocolate when you get home. always think of what you're going to do afterwards.

I've had this post in my drafts for so long to think of more tips but I just want to get this out there! Let me know if you want a part two. :)

What happens in Oxford, stays in Oxford?

This is an extremely personal post for me to upload, but I said that this blog is sort of like a diary for me, so here goes.

I had planned to go and see my friend, Rhiannon, for months. Actually, two years I had been trying to go but something always got in the way, so a couple of months ago I booked a weekend off work and my train tickets and just did it. Skip forward to Monday, and I felt like crap. The week hadn't started great, and it just didn't get better and it was Friday. I just pretty much led in bed all day, I felt ill and just not okay. This feeling had been known all too well for me as about five years ago I felt scared of doing specific things, until about six months ago. I hadn't had that feeling.
I couldn't sleep on Friday night, I was up at 3 and then 4 and 5 and then finally half past six when I had to get up to get ready for my train. The car journey was awful, my parents were telling me how much fun I would have and all I could think was "Am I going to faint as soon as I stand up?"
We pull up at the station and I fight back tears, why was I so upset?! I was only going for one night and I was going to see my extremely good friend! My mum told me to go and I got on the platform to be sat crying. I rang my friend Georg and just explained how scared I was, nonetheless, my parents were gone, my bags were packed and I got on the train.
It wasn't a bad journey, until I got off the train to have to run to a bus that was packed and I had to sit with a three old playing an app on a phone extremely loud and was basically led on me. The first couple of hours were fine, and then as I was walking down a street looking at my friend's university, I felt the feeling again.

I messaged my mum, and she said maybe I could come back in the night rather than the next morning. The idea was brilliant, and I looked at train times while my friend sat opposite me unaware. I felt awful and then we went to Wagamamas, which was the most claustrophobic thing ever. I didn't eat all my food and then we went to the cinema. Before the cinema, me and my mum had still been messaging loads and she told me she was going to come and get me. She made the two hour drive journey with my dad and she told me she was leaving. I had to tell my friend I was going to go home.
I was terrified, I waited until the end of the film and I was completely honest with her and said I just wasn't feeling okay. She was completely fine with it, and we found my mum and dad. I slept the whole way home and have been in bed since. It's 2:35pm. I should still be in Oxford, but I'm led here, eating humbugs feeling awful!

I have no idea why I'm sharing this, I just feel like if I write it down, it might clear my head.

I feel defeated, I feel like I'm an awful excuse for a twenty year old. My friends are gallivanting around the world and I can't even stay at my friend's house. I hope I leave this feeling behind soon, I'm going to have a bubble bath now and see if I'll feel better.

Wales' One Week Of Summer

Wales has just overcome a massive heatwave to which the temperatures hit 37 degrees Celsius, if that's not even hot for you please be quiet, it very rarely hits 22 in Wales. To make the most of the weather I did a variety of things!

These photos were taken yesterday, don't be fooled by the clouds. It was still hot, but if you can't spend your Monday feeding ducks with a three year old, how can you?

Me and my best friend Georg decided to go out for some Summer drinks and ended up in town somehow! Still a lovely night nonetheless.

This is a special day. Me and my grandma, after we had gone for afternoon tea to celebrate her 90th birthday <3

Me and some work friends decided to head out on the hottest day of the year and spend it by the riverbank, we ended up being too hot so headed up to work and spent it under the trees! That night we ended up going out to a quiz that we do every Tuesday :)

Me and my family headed out to a park to have a picnic, the little boy is my godson/cousin's little boy! This was the day before the heatwave and we had no idea what temperature it would be. Jeans was a bad idea.

This was one of my favourite nights. Me and the work girls headed to the races where we live, we won a bit of money and then watched Peter Andre, so so funny!

I Eat What I Want, When I Want!

Today's post is a bit of a different one. It's become a recent trend to be "clean eating" or even a vegan. If you're not eating a yoghurt with granola for breakfast or smoked salmon with avocado and poached egg on toast, who even are you? My answer? Human.

I have always eaten reasonably healthy, I ate my vegetables, I snacked on grapes. But in today's world, that just isn't good enough. I allow myself to have naughty treats without feeling bad about them, if I want bad food, I'm going to have it.

Growing up, I found eating harder, just because I was so picky. When I was out with friends and they wanted to go for a certain food, I'd panic and not say anything and just have a side order. I have definitely gotten better over the years as I have had a few health problems which means being picky would essentially be awful for me. However, as social media is being a huge influence on people's food choices, sometimes I sit and think "Should I really be eating this?" I'm a 20 year old girl, I'm not easily influenced when it comes to social media, but I can't help think of younger teens seeing the Instagrams and just worrying.

Grace, from graciefrancesca.com or as she was called UglyFaceOfBeauty, recently did a documentary with BBC3 on the truth about Clean Eating. I highly recommend watching it as it literally opens your eyes to these so called experts on clean eating. Grace does a really good job at it all too!

^That picture makes me hungry. I don't care?

I know what you may be thinking, "You're a gym instructor!!" Exactly. A gym instructor. Not an nutritionist, I am mainly qualified in fitness. Very little of my course was to do with food.

I would love to go more into depth on this topic.. maybe in the future!

Too Faced Haul

When this little beautiful box arrived at my door I straight away was in love. It started when I was led on the sofa watching the telly, and I had an email from Too Faced saying it was free shipping worldwide. Knowing I wanted a specific set from the American site, I took my chance.

I ordered the Most Loved Set and got to choose two free samples, I chose the Born This Way foundation. Which came in a strip and gave a good amount of foundation in a sachet, in three different shades. I really appreciate the fact they did that because usually brands just send a random shade! I also didn't realise this but I picked the Hangover X primer as a tester too, even though it came in the set haha!

The set I picked up included the most popular items from Too Faced in mini form including:
-Melted Lipstick in Melted Fig
-Hangover Primer
-Shadow Insurance eye primer
-Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
-Better Than Sex mascara

I had tried the Better than Sex mascara before so I was super excited for it to be included as I'm running out of my current one. I have also got the Melted Nude lipstick and I adored it so I'm happy for another one of them. Although, the colour is a bit out there, I think I'll be brave in the winter.
The chocolate soleil bronzer literally smells like chocolate and it looks so incredible. I've heard great things about the face primer and the eye primer!

I will update you on what I think :)

P.S. I'm really sorry I haven't uploaded in a while, I was going to do a post but I haven't got a reason why. I think I want to just keep this as a hobby and if I pressurize myself, I might not want to even do a post! So yeah, when you get one, you get one, when you don't, you don't! Sorry X

Sidari, Corfu: 60 Words and 13 Pictures

I headed to Corfu last week with my mum, dad and sister. There wasn't much to say about the holiday apart from the fact I went to Sephora, in Corfu town. I chilled on the beach everyday, I went in the sea, I watched the football and chilled. So I figured I would just show you cute pictures.. so voila!

Happy 20.5th Birthday To Me!

I am a November baby, which means technically when I'm writing this, I am 20 and a half years old. As my next birthday is a bit of a milestone, I would like to turn 21 with a few things under my belt.

(My 20th birthday cake, woohoo!)

1. Go to the gym at least two, maybe three times a week. I do do this quite a bit but some weeks I only do like one half an hour session, which aint too good.

2. Eat more healthily. By this I mean, to stop eating takeaways and eating out as much.

3. Visit my grandma as much as I can. I do this anyway, but I'd like to see her even more.

4. Go on walks. I'm a stressed person in general, my moods are very mixed and I find walks are so therapeutic, I want to go on more.

5. Following on from number 4, I'd like to go on walks around my area. I live in a town in Wales where there are forests, fields, and all that jazz, basically surrounding me. I'd love to explore a bit more!

6. Try more foods. I'm very stuck in my own ways, I know what I like and that's what I order. I think I should probably try some different things for sure!

7. Be more open to things. This is just a general thing, be it saying yes to going out or just being a bit more open-minded about people.

8. Adapt a sense of style. I don't really have a "style." I'd love to be like Blair Waldorf, Cher from Clueless or even Freddy Cousin Brown!

9. Blog more. I went through a stage at the start of the year where I blogged so much and I've lost the inspiration, I definitely think the summer will give me more blog ideas!

10. Swim more. I'm a lifeguard and a swimming teacher so my life basically revolves around the pool. I'd love to swim and improve my technique more as I really do enjoy swimming.

11. Be open in University. I'm going to University in September, just two months before my 21st, and I hope that I make friends and gain more confidence through my course.

12. Sort my makeup collection. I love makeup as much as the next girl, but I think my collection is a bit excessive as one girl can't use thaaaat much. I would love to sell things on, or give it to friends and family. I just need to be brave and get rid, haha.

13. Declutter my wardrobe. The same as my makeup collection, I have a lot of clothes. But if I love a piece, I will wear it quite a bit. I also buy things and don't wear them because I'm not brave enough. Get a grip, Katie!

14. Get rid of people that aren't good for me. Unfortunately, I have a few of these in my life right now, who purely just don't get me and aren't willing to try and understand things in my life. Crappy people.

15. Maintain a good relationship with my sister. Me and my big sister are very close in age, we're a year and a 11 months apart so we do clash a lot. That's expected. But since we're now 20 and 22, we get on quite a bit better and I'd like to maintain that.

16. Visit London. I've only been to London, like twice? And I really would love to go and again and just explore. I want to shop, and go to a show and visit the landmarks!

17. Spend less time in bed. Kind of a funny one, I mean that if I don't have anything planned that day. I will stay in bed all day and do NOTHING. This can be good sometimes, but I feel like I should plan things, or go out for a walk or help around the house.

18. Work my ass off in Uni. I know I will, I know 100%. But I just hope that I can work at my job, be in uni, see my family and friends and maintain a good University grade. I'm determined to be a great student!

19. Be more independent. Since buying a car three weeks ago, I now already feel much more independent. But I'd love to be able to do things and just not feel self-conscious. I also hate phone calls, complaining or just be an adult so I hope I can do more of these things.

20. Focus on me. Remember, that I'm in charge of my own happiness. Not anybody else's, or they're not in charge of mine.

21. Remember I'm only young. 20/21 is a young age. It's nothing compared to some people, and I need to remember that I can go out and party, make mistakes and be a young adult. I don't want to rush into my 30s just yet!

Reflecting

I have had a whirlwind of a 2016 so far. I lost one of the most important people in my life in February, just two days after I found out I was going to University. I booked a week away with a friend at the end of May, a week away with my family in June and currently planning a Disneyland Paris trip for August. I'm seeing Beyonce live in concert with my sister, which is an ultimate dream, so it's about to get a lot more hectic.

Ever just think to yourself "I need to get away"? or, "This is getting a tad overwhelming."

Yep. I said that.

Unfortunately, I can't just get up and leave everything behind. All these exciting things I'm planning comes with a price tag, which means I need to be working working working.

On the 20th of April, my best friend took me to a place where my grandparents took me all the time when I was a little girl. The 20th of April happens to be my grandparents' anniversary, it actually marked their 70th this year. My granddad past away just under three months ago so this was the first anniversary they wouldn't be spending together.

I have found that life has been a little challenging recently. I bought a car on the 16th of April and I've hit it twice and broke my antenna. Great driving Katie, really great. Work has been tough and just life in general.
Sometimes you just need a little break, whether that be a holiday or literally a couple of hours away from the surroundings that have phone service, annoying people and extreme traffic.

Hectic Hectic Hectic: Weekly Post #1

This post, I've decided to do a sort of diary type thing as some pretty great things happened. I did think about doing this on a regular occurrence but I did then realise my life isn't that interesting to do one every single week.

Sunday 27th March
Just so happened to be Easter Sunday! That didn't actually mean much to be though. My mum worked in the morning and I worked 2:30-6 so we didn't celebrate it, which is sad because we usually do! I then went out in Bristol, which was alright!

Monday 28th March
Just so happened to be Bank Holiday Monday! As I returned home at 3:45am on Sunday night/Monday morning, I slept till about half past 12. I then got a text saying "McDonalds 2pm?" I jumped out of bed and headed to the nearest McDonalds to indulge in a large chicken nugget meal chocolate milkshake. Incredible. I then went to a local Wetherspoons and met up with two friends, one had recently come home from university so that was nice to them.

Tuesday 29th March
I had a two and a half hour driving lesson that day. I hadn't had a lesson since I failed on the 24th February. It went alright, nothing special but you know. I then went to work for two hours and slept forever haha.

Wednesday 30th March
A very boring day here, but so tiring. I woke up at 5:30 for a 6:15-3:45 shift.. Yuck. I then taught swimming lessons 4-5:30.. needless to say I dragged myself straight back to bed!

Thursday 31st March
This is where the excitement starts!
I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST.
Oh gosh, that was one of the best days of my life. I cried, my mum cried, my dad cried and even my grandma cried.
To celebrate, me and five of my friends from school, three from them had been in University so I hadn't seen them, went to a cocktail bar in town. Needless to say, I got a little tipsy celebrating my news!

Friday 1st April
Waking up at 9am, for a 9:30am bus, with a headache wasn't fun. But I went to Bristol with two school friends, again from University, noticing a trend? I spent a lot of money and had my first wagamamas! I had a chicken katsu curry.. I mean it was okay? but? hype? Nah

I then went to work to teach for an hour and a half and went out for an all you can chinese buffet with a massive group from school. That was fun. I ate too much. Felt sick. Not so fun.

Saturday 2nd April
I woke up at 8am to be in work for 8:30... again, not so great. I had a quick three and a half hour shift. Then, I went to the farm with my friend Alice, it was so funny and we were the oldest there snuggling the baby rabbits. Ohhhh well! It was a gorgeous day and we ended the day with a cup of tea in the sun.

Then we went out. I got again a little tipsy.. a bit more this time!

I love these pictures!

Sunday 3rd April

I woke up and stayed in bed till 12:30, tidied my room and headed to work at 2:30 till 6pm. It was a good shift and then I went home, consumed a lot of Indian takeaway and fell asleep at 9.

It was a craaaaazy week. I'm now on a detox from alcohol and takeaways haha!
